Cal Ripken Jr, the “Iron Man” was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility on 9 January 2007, just 8 votes short of a unanimous selection. He played his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles and starred in a record 2,632 consecutive games from 30 May 1982 to 19 September 1998.
